Join Phoenix Performing Arts for a fall performance workshop where young performers will build acting, singing, movement, and theatre skills while working together to produce Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS.
Whether this is your child's first experience onstage or they already love performing, our goal is to meet them where they are, help them grow, and give them a performance experience they can be proud of.
Every performer follows the same two steps to join the show.
Every performer auditions. Pick the Audition Workshop or a Traditional Small Group Audition, whichever fits your child best.
Choose an AuditionReserve one of the 25 Performance Workshop spots, before or after your child's audition.
Register for the WorkshopBased on the classic Disney animated film, The Jungle Book KIDS follows Mowgli, a young boy raised in the jungle, as he sets off on an adventure with Bagheera, Baloo, and a colorful collection of jungle characters.
Along the way, Mowgli encounters elephants, monkeys, the hypnotic Kaa, King Louie, and the fearsome Shere Khan as he discovers where he belongs.
This approximately 30 minute musical features familiar songs including "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wan'na Be Like You," with principal, featured, small group, and ensemble opportunities for young performers.
The Performance Workshop combines theatre education with the experience of producing a fully staged musical. Students will build skills in:
Students don't need to arrive already knowing how to sing, act, or perform. They come to Phoenix to learn.
Students will spend seven weeks learning and rehearsing Disney's The Jungle Book KIDS before bringing everything together during tech week and performing the show for an audience. This is both a theatre education program and a production experience.
Because we meet only once each week, regular attendance is important. Students will receive short practice assignments between rehearsals to review music, lines, and choreography at home.
During tech week, students will rehearse with the technical elements of the production and run the complete show under performance conditions. Attendance at tech rehearsals is required.
Students enrolled in the Performance Workshop are expected to participate in all performances.

Financial Scholarship ApplicationEvery performer auditions so our directing team can get to know them and determine the role that is the best fit for them. For ages 5–10, we are not looking for a perfect audition. We want to see each child's personality, how they sing and tell a story, the choices they make as an actor, and how they respond to direction.
Students choose ONE audition option. Neither option provides a casting advantage.
Best for first-time performers, nervous auditioners, or children who benefit from a little more time to get comfortable.
The Audition Workshop is a guided group audition. This is the audition itself. It is not an audition-prep class.

15 minute appointments. Up to four performers per group. Each student will sing individually and then read scenes from the show with the other students in their audition group.
Students should choose ONE of the provided audition songs to prepare. They do not need to choose a song based on the character they hope to play. Choose whichever selection feels most comfortable and best shows their voice and personality.
Students will sing approximately one minute individually. Song memorization is encouraged if the student is comfortable, but it is not required.
Students will also receive short acting sides to review before the audition. The sides do not need to be memorized. During the audition, the directing team may ask students to:
